Magnific began as one exceptional tool — a creative upscaler that invents believable detail instead of interpolating pixels — and it is still the best in that category. In April 2026 Freepik rebranded its entire platform under the Magnific name, so today it is a broad creative suite with an upscaler at its heart and a large stock library behind it.
Hermosso never had a stock library and never will. It is a generation-first studio built around producing new images of specific people, products and spaces, with editing, video and a UGC ad studio in the same subscription.
The honest framing: Magnific is where you go to make an existing image better. Hermosso is where you go to make the image in the first place.

What Magnific does better
On upscaling, Magnific is still ahead and we would not argue the point. Their creative upscaler is the product the category is named after, and their model is tuned for it in a way ours is not. The gap is narrower than it was: our Creative tier now exposes the same dials — creativity, resemblance, HDR, fractality and sharpen, with presets on top — and our ceiling is 22K against their 10K/16×. If creative upscaling is the whole job, Magnific is still the specialist.
Their relight is also ahead. Three independent lights with rotation, elevation, intensity and colour, plus the ability to match lighting from a reference image, is more control than our prompt-and-direction approach offers.
They also have a stock library we cannot match, a much larger enterprise footprint, and an MCP server alongside their API — which we do not have. And through Freepik their entry price undercuts ours.
Worth noting on billing, because they got there first and they got it right: Magnific retired their pay-per-usage API in 2026 and moved to drawing on plan credits instead. Ours works the same way for the same reason — one balance, one bill.
What Hermosso does better
Generating people. Magnific has no personal model training. If the job is photos of a specific person — headshots, personal brand, dating, a team — it is not a comparison, because only one of these tools does it. Ours pairs a Flux LoRA persona trained in about two minutes with 67 curated packs, so the approved look is reproducible next month.
Interiors, from architects. The Studio was built by two practising architects around their own workflow: it restyles a room while holding its architecture, stages an empty listing, swaps materials against real supplier photographs, relights, re-renders camera angles and extends the frame. Magnific will upscale your interior beautifully; it will not redesign it. Here is how we use it.
Finished ad creative, not assets. The UGC studio turns a product URL into a scripted set of scenes with a consistent AI avatar and produces the talking video clips. Magnific has no equivalent — and neither does anyone else.
Video generation, not just video upscaling. They enhance a clip you already have. We make the clip — 16 engines for photo-to-video and text-to-video, with camera-motion presets and native audio on most.

The verdict
Choose Magnific if upscaling or relighting an existing image is the core job and you want fine-grained control over how much detail gets invented, or you need a stock library or an MCP server.
Choose Hermosso if you need to create rather than enhance — photos of a specific person, finished UGC ad creative, video from a still, an interior redesigned — and you would rather have generation, editing, upscaling, video and the API in one subscription than assembled from several.
These two overlap less than either overlaps with Krea, and using both is a genuinely good setup: Hermosso as the base layer for production, with the hero image sent to Magnific when it needs the very best upscale available. We would rather tell you that than lose your trust by claiming a win we do not have.

Is Hermosso a Magnific alternative?
Partly. For pure creative upscaling Magnific is still the specialist — they invented the category and their model is tuned for it. The controls are no longer the difference: our Creative tier exposes creativity, resemblance, HDR, fractality and sharpen, and goes to 22K against their 10K. For generating new images, especially of a specific person or an interior space, Magnific has no equivalent to what we do.
Does Hermosso upscale as well as Magnific?
Closer than it used to be. We reach 22K through Topaz Gigapixel and SeedVR2 across five tiers, and the Creative tier now gives the same fine control over how much detail is invented — creativity, resemblance, HDR, fractality and sharpen, with presets. Magnific's model is still the more tuned one for that specific job, so if creative upscaling is your main work they remain the specialist.
Can Magnific make AI headshots?
Not in the way we mean. Magnific has no personal model training, so it cannot generate consistent photos of a specific person from their selfies. It can dramatically improve a photo you already have of them.
What about Freepik's stock library?
We do not have one and are not building one. If a stock library is part of your workflow, Magnific through Freepik covers both needs in one subscription and that is a real advantage.
